[Demon Slayers] The friendship between Muichiro Tokito and Tanjiro, Tanjiro as the Yang to Yuichiro’s Yin
I always love the friendship between Tokito (age 15) and Tanjiro (age 15). I think age-wise, both are roughly the same age by the time they met in Swordsmith village.
I don’t know if the show is intentionally written as is my headcanon interpreted it, but I always saw their relationship as a less dysfunctional Sasuke and Naruto thing.
[Spoilers ahead] also, I view Tanjiro as Muichiro’s next kin, kind of like how Yuichiro was for him. It’s why in the training arc, Muichiro was so warm and friendly with Tanjiro.
Their names (I don’t know if coincidental), also all ended with -iro. Kind of like a part of a trio. In a way, Muichiro, Yuichiro and Tanjiro. And I can kinda see Tanjiro as the “Yang” to Yuichiro’s “Yin” with Muichiro as the neutral center.
Just a little take on this small part in the series. Maybe as part of my headcanon, I wanted them to just be “non-blood” brothers is. I’m sure Nezuko wouldn’t be opposed to having another big brother (as shown in their interactions in Swordsmith Village arc).
